TÉRÈZE: DINE IN ONE OF RIO’S CHICEST SANTA TERESA RESTAURANTS
The Cost - $45 per person
The Atmosphere – Chic. Located inside of the Santa Teresa Hotel, Térèze offers great views of Rio De Janeiro in a high end, modern setting. Perfect for a Friday or a Saturday night dinner before exploring Rio’s nightlife scene.
When most people think of Rio de Janeiro, they think of Copacabana and Ipanema beaches. But the Santa Teresa district is home to the city’s art community, old mansions, boutique hotels, shops, and restaurants and is definitely worth a visit. It’s here that you will find Térèze, a beautiful restaurant serving contemporary cuisine.
The Order - Caipirinha with Caju to drink. Tartar de Carne, Toradito de Peixe, Oswaldo, Cheese Cake de Chocolate and Tartelete de Banana to eat.
The Fantastic - There is one common theme here: beef. The Tartar de Carne was wonderful. Served with egg yolk, capers and between two biscuit like pieces that weren’t my favorite, the meat was brilliant and the onion crescents filled with spicy olive oil were delicious. A bite with the meat, onions, egg yolk and and capers was magical. The Oswaldo, the main steak dish, came out beautifully and was served with a phenomenal black garlic sauce and a rice croquette. The steak was cooked to perfection and was extremely flavorful.
The Great - When in Brazil, you drink caipirinhas. This one was made with cachaça and mixed with caju, a tropical fruit on which the cashew nut grows. The cocktail was great and I enjoyed every sip.
The Good - Both desserts. The Cheesecake was very milk chocolate-y and came with a white chocolate farofa. I just wish it was a little less sweet. The Tartelete de Banana had a date crust, apricot and chocolate. While there were some great flavors, I didn’t like how they all combined.
The Verdict - Loved the beef dishes and the cocktails. If you choose your menu options wisely, you can have a fantastic meal in a stunning space.
