CHULETITO’S ASADOS: DON’T MISS THESE 75 CENT TACOS IN MEXICO
The Cost - $4.50. Yup, that’s right. Each taco is 15 pesos ($0.75). The most expensive thing was my bottle of water.
The Atmosphere – Super casual. Feel free to roll out of bed late and head over in your pajamas or to grab a few tacos after you finish working out in your gym clothes. It’s all about the food here.
Throughout cities across Mexico, there are puestos (stands) in the street as well as stands that are literally holes-in-the-wall that serve up delicious food that may use questionable sanitary practices. I was pretty amazed, though, when I walked by this particular hole-in-the-wall restaurant that looked new, had a brick interior, new and expensive looking equipment and a stone countertop. Intrigued, I made a mental note and went back to that spot, Chuletito’s Asados, for dinner.
The Order - The menu consists of three taco options: Carne Asada, Longaniza (sausage), or Combination (carne asada with longaniza). I went with 2 carne asada tacos and 2 combination tacos and a bottle of water.
The Fantastic - The tacos may be the only thing on the menu but these folks know how to make them! Served with onion, cilantro and a guacamole-like avocado in a double tortilla, these tacos are truly a delight. The variety of salsas that you can add to your tacos were also very well made.
The Not So Good - Drink options are limited to bottled sodas and water, limited seating and it’s cash only.
The Verdict - This is the best value in Puebla and a must visit for lunch or dinner. You will not be disappointed with what may be the best tacos in this magical city!
