NUESTRO SECRETO: STEAK ISN’T THE BEST DISH AT THIS BUENOS AIRES SPOT
The Cost - $28 per person
The Atmosphere – The Four Seasons is one of Buenos Aires’s top hotels so you can imagine that its restaurants follow suit. Nuestro Secreto has both indoor and outdoor seating with a very nice outdoor bar. The indoor seating is all inside a beautiful, greenhouse style glass and steel enclosed structure.
The Four Seasons Buenos Aires is home to Elena, a restaurant that held a spot on The World’s 50 Best Top 50 in Latin America List for years. However on this night I wanted to try the hotel’s lesser known restaurant, Nuestro Secreto, which features a gourmet Argentinian parrilla.
The Order - The Che Guerito and a mezcal cocktail to drink. The Braised Short Rib Ravioli and the Prime Rib to eat.
The Phenomenal - Served in the skillet it was cooked in, the short rib ravioli is the heavy, delicious meal to have on a rainy day, on a cold day, to celebrate or to help you feel better if you are ever feeling down. Basically, no matter what, this dish is going to improve your mood and leave your stomach feeling super satisfied. The burrata cheese melted over the four large ravioli is absolutely brilliant and the meat stuffed inside the hand made pasta is soft and juicy. When mixed with the fresh made tomato sauce and the olives on top (you can opt out of the olives), this is one fantastic meal.
The Great - The steak was grilled beautifully to my preferred level of doneness (between rare and medium rare) and was tender and filled with flavor. The chimichurri that it came with was phenomenal. The Che Guerita, lemongrass infused vodka with green apple and fresh herbs was as refreshing as it sounds and provided an excellent start to the dining experience.
The Good - The mezcal cocktail, which had orgeat, an almond based syrup, and elderberry nectar was creative and fun. It was served in a cute aluminum cup with fresh herbs grown on site.
The Verdict - Despite being housed in one of the most expensive hotels in Buenos Aires, NuestroSecreto delivers great food at very reasonable prices. If the weather is nice, sit outside and enjoy the view of the old mansion, sip cocktails and make sure to order the ravioli!
