ASSADOR: ALL YOU CAN EAT BRAZILIAN MEAT WITH A VIEW
The Cost -$40 per person
The Atmosphere – Located along the water with views of Sugar Loaf Mountain and Christ the Redeemer, Assador provides an excellent setting to enjoy your meal. If it's nice out, take advantage of the outdoor seating to take in the beautiful surroundings.
When it comes to food, Brazilians are best known for their meat. In fact, I've seen many animated debates between
Brazilians and Argentinians as to which country produces the best beef. All debating aside, when you're in Brazil, a visit to a churrascaria is a must so I went to Assador (@assadorbr) to get my fill.
The Order – There's only one way you can go and that's the all you can eat option.
The Great - Overall, my experience at Assador earns the restaurant a "Great" rating. I very much enjoyed the picanha
(sirloin cap) as well as the alcatra (rump steak), fraldinha (flank steak) and even the pork. Surprisingly, the filet mignon was one of my least favorite parts of the meal. The service at the restaurant was very good - the meats kept on coming and they made sure you always had food on your plate. I did my best to focus on the meat and not eat too much "filler" but I did enjoy the farofa, a traditional Brazilian dish made of toasted cassava flour, as well as the french fries and grilled bananas and was impressed with all of the options I had to choose from.
The Verdict – The quality of the meat didn't blow me away and the inability to order the meat to your own temperature specifications did affect my personal enjoyment of the meal but this sure isn't your typically buffet-quality meal. Assador is a very good value based on the quantity and quality of food as well as the overall dining experience.
